A professional trading routine is not glamorous. It is a set of small, repeatable actions performed in the same order every day. The point is not to feel productive — it is to eliminate variance in preparation so that variance in the market is easier to handle.
The Pre-Market Block
- Review overnight news and calendar
- Mark up higher-timeframe levels
- Confirm bias and identify A+ setups
- Set daily loss cap and maximum trade count
- Confirm software, VPS, and platform readiness
The Execution Block
During the session, the routine is minimal: execute setups from the plan, log entries, do not open new charts, do not consume news. Everything downstream of preparation is execution — and execution should be almost boring.
The Debrief Block
After the session: journal every trade, note plan-vs-execution deviation, screenshot outcomes, close the trading environment. Do not review P&L emotionally — review it structurally.
Weekly and Monthly Anchors
Weekly review looks at pattern, expectancy, and rule violations. Monthly review closes the accounting period and asks what one improvement is worth implementing.
Design your routine to be boring, predictable, and impossible to skip. Boring routines produce interesting equity curves.
